President Betty Siegel convenes a committee to study the addition of football. The committee concludes that football in Division II was not viable. It further states, Kennesaw State should compete in NCAA Division I and establish a firm business plan with sustainable revenue streams.

Fifth Third Bank Stadium is home to Kennesaw State lacrosse and soccer, and the future site of Owl's football. Since the stadium officially opened on May 2, 2010 it has also been host to the NCAA Women's College Cup, Women's Professional Soccer, seven national soccer teams, NCAA Men's Lacrosse and concerts.
